FAQs: I saved a blog post as a draft. How do I get back to it?

Earlier in the week, we talked about the various privacy levels you can set for your blog using the Entry Status field.  If you use the draft Entry Status, when you click the Submit Post button, your post will be saved, but it will not be added to your blog.  So if it's not in your blog, how to you get back to it?

Log in (or go to your My GWC page if already logged in) and click on Blog > Manage Blog Posts in the Explore Member box to the left.

 

This will bring up a screen of all of your blog posts, whether they are live or just a draft.  The titles of live posts are hyperlinked; the titles of drafts are in black.  Click the Edit button next to the draft you wish to edit.

FAQs: How do I edit or delete an existing blog?

You have a couple of options available to you to edit or delete an existing blog.  The first option is to click the edit or delete icons at the bottom of a blog post.

If you are not logged in: Log in and select Blog > View Blog in the Explore Member box on the left of your My GWC screen.

If you are already logged in: Hover your mouse over the My GWC menu in the blue bar across the screen and select My Blog.

Using the icons on a blog post

The first method to edit or delete an existing post is to use the icons at the bottom of each blog post. 

Scroll through your blog posts and find the one you wish to edit or delete.  Scroll to the bottom of that post.  Above the tags for the blog post, you'll see two small icons:

FAQ: How do I use an anchor tag in my blog post?

Now that you know how to hyperlink text in your blog post, let's take the next step and incorporate anchor tags.  An anchor tag, when used in conjunction with a hyperlink, allows you to insert a bookmark within a blog post, so that when a reader clicks on the hyperlink with an anchor, they are taken directly to that bookmark.

An anchor tag allows you to direct someone to a specific section of a blog post so that they don't have to scroll through an entry.

Setting an anchor tag

To set an anchor tag in a blog post, place your cursor where you would like to insert the bookmark, and click the anchor button.

Give the anchor a name; do not use any spaces in the anchor name. Click the Insert button.

FAQs: How do I hyperlink text in my blog?

To hyperlink text means to embed a Web address so then when a reader clicks on the text, their Web browser navigates to that Web address.  You can also hyperlink text with an email address so that when a user clicks on it, the reader's email program generates an email with the hyperlinked email address in the To field.

Using hyperlinks eliminates any typing errors that users might make when retyping a URL or email address and provides a generally faster and easier user experience.

So you can create a blog post and insert photos and videos, but do you know how to format your text?  What are all the options available to you?

Let's take a quick walk through the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor available for posting blogs.

We've already covered how to upload a video to your GWC account, and you may be wondering how to insert a video into a blog post.  For the basics on making a blog post, click here.

Place your curor where you want to insert your video and click the Insert Video button. 

From this screen, you can insert an existing video or upload a new video to your gallery.

NOTE: If you upload a new video, it will take the site a few minutes to process it. You cannot insert a video until the site is done processing it.  When a video is processing it looks like this:

FAQs: How do I format a photo I inserted into a blog post?

We've covered making a blog post, uploading photos, and inserting photos in a blog post so far.  So how do you format a photo once you've uploaded it? This blog post will show you how to justify, resize, and hyperlink the photos in your blog post.

Justify

When inserted, your picture will default to be left justified.  If you wish to center it or right justify it, click on the picture to make sure it is selected (you can tell it is selected if it's outlined and has little white boxes at the corners of the picture, see the photo below in the Resize section of this post).  Click one of the alignment buttons in the blog post editing toolbar to justify the picture as desired.
