Abstract:
Does it take your organization weeks or months to turn around requests for new pre-production environments of your middleware platforms? Have you ever been on a crit-sit, Sev 1 system outage conference bridge at 2 AM on a Sunday trying to replicate a configuration-drifted production system error in a triage environment? Did your recent private cloud implementation result in over deployment of software licenses and a painful entitlement audit? If any of these sound familiar, this session is for you.
IBM Premier Business Partner Haddon Hill Group will discuss lessons learned and best practices in realizing Platform-as-a-Service for middleware infrastructure based on their field implementation experience with IBM Workload Deployer (formerly WebSphere Cloudburst Appliance) over the past three years.
Topics will include:
- What is the IBM Workload Deployer (IWD) appliance and how is it related to Platform-as-a-Service and Private Cloud
- How does IWD work across ESX, PowerVM, and z/VM hypervisors
- What types of middleware infrastructures have affinity for IWD-based deployment/management?
- How can you use IWD, Rational Automation Framework, and the MidVision
- Connectivity Extension to manage config consistency in cloud deployments
- How are platform migrations related to PaaS initiatives
- How can I virtualize non-IBM parts of my middleware topologies
- IWD demo.
